This position's key responsibilities will be to manage the day to day customs
compliance of imports and exports for all products, perform tariff assignment
seasonally for all brands, confirm product costing as it relates to duty, and
address any issues in relation to customs value. The analyst is responsible for
monitoring changes in customs laws, trade agreements, and port policies and
communicating information internally as necessary.

- Ensures compliance with all foreign country trading partner requirements and
acts as liaison and primary
point of contact on customs matters.
- Analyzes and evaluates U.S. Custom's programs and other international trade
agreements for the reduction
of duties in the importation of products.
- Interfaces with U.S. departmental counterparts as needed in the collection of
information and evaluation of technical product details.
- Engages with product acquisition (sourcing) and product development
departments in the PLM process to evaluate
Harmonized Tariff Classifications, duty rates, preference program
qualifications and other applicable customs compliance
criteria; works closely with the finance group in product costing
process.
- Preparation of NAFTA Certificates on an annual basis
- Works in conjunction with the logistics department to report, collect and
track export shipment data required for the
purpose of filing duty drawback or other refund claims with CBSA.
- Manages communications with CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) & CBP (US -
Customs Border Protection)
such as responses to inquiries and ruling requests.
- Analyzes control systems for compliance requirements.
- Supports internal functional teams on pertinent issues pertaining to duties,
valuation, logistics, etc.
- Supervises all import shipment delivery activities from "Cradle to Grave"
destinations.
- Works closely with shipping teams globally to ensure timely release of goods
with adequate and accurate required documentation.
- Prepares and send Custom documents to Customs Broker for shipment clearance.
- Performs analysis on payment advice and answer enquiries from management.
- Handles Customs Exam and provide all necessary additional information.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a customs compliance capacity - Food Industry
Preferable
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- High proficiency in Microsoft Access desired
- Thorough knowledge of the Customs Tariff, The Customs Act, trade agreements,
and detailed knowledge of other
customs programs such as Advance Ruling Program,
Administrative Monetary Penalty System, Partners in
Protection, Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Advance
Commercial Information, Customs Self
Assessment and Compliance Assessment Review.
- Ability to enhance and implement 'best practices' with a mindset toward
continuous improvement;
- Ability to solve complex business problems with forward thinking solutions;
- Ability to work in a fast paced yet casual environment.
