The main focus of this position is to
ensure is CSA compliant for all commercial goods imported into and exported from
Canada. This is accomplished by the Customs Compliance Coordinator working with
our national customs broker to ensure meets the imports and export requirements
as set-forth within the various Acts of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Services.

Manage imported shipments (truck, rail, ocean, air and
courier) and ensure clearance
on a timely basis and appropriate paperwork provided readily for Canada Customs.
Customs entries and documentation to ensure correct values, quantities and
origin are being declared to Canada Customs
Prepare export documentation for shipments to USA, Mexico and China – including
documents according to
level of credit requirements, Export declaration for samples and FDA Prior
Notice for Food Products
Prepare analysis of import entries that require corrections and obtain B-2
Adjustment or Duty Refunds from
Canada Customs utilizing Customs Broker
Review cargo insurance requirements and approve monthly declarations
Review and analyze export customs entries to ensure correct values, quantities
and origin are being declared to US Customs
Approve Customs Broker’s Invoices for imports and exports to ensure carrier
invoices for charges other than brokerage
fees e.g. waiting time/demurrage, terminal, inspection fees etc. are applicable
Obtain North American Free Trade Certificates (NAFTA) and/or Certificates of
Origin (COO) from vendors/principals and
coordinate distribution to customers
Review HS Tariff classifications along with Regulatory Affairs to ensure Customs
Broker and Company’s Database is
in-sync and adjust customs entries or obtain customs rulings accordingly
Provide technical leadership and advice in matters of customs compliance to
internal personnel, principals/vendors, customers etc.
Participate in Projects to develop and improve company’s customs operations e.g.
CSA initiative, Broker’s SOP, Refund & Drawback
initiatives, assist in negotiating services and fees with service provider
Respond to After-hours queries relating to customs clearance
Perform other job related duties as assigned or required
Perform other related duties as required
5+ years of hands-on customs experience within the
importing and exporting industry
1+ years of experience in the customs brokerage industry
Proficient knowledge of CSA and AMPS procedures
Exceptional interpersonal skills which allows for effective interaction and
Experience in Ocean Imports and Exports as well as truck, rail and air imports
and exports required
Experience in Customs Duty Refunds, Drawbacks and B-2 Amendments preferred
Flexibility to answer after-hours queries for customs clearance on border issues
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Superior written and verbal communication skills
