It is very important that the Customs Manager's management syle reflects the company's established reputation for excellence of service.
- Lead, manage and motivate a medium-sized operations staff in a busy customs brokerage office.
- Ensure that shipments are classified, rated properly and cleared in a timely and efficient manner.
- Anticipate, identify and resolve problems that could delay the timely release of goods.
- Provide day-to-day hands-on leadership, training, mentoring and coaching of staff.
- Lead through personal example - always being willing to pitch in and assist in large rating projects for key customers.
- Implementation, improvement and monitoring of internal processes, procedures and policies.
- Review, maintain, audit and set-up databaseof HS codes descriptions within the company's systems.
- Customs consulting with clients/B2 claims adjustments, NAFTA certificates.
- Periodic sales calls to customers in conjunction with senior management.
- Manage staff and monitor sick-days, approve vacations, administer performance appraisals, hiring, firing and discipline.
- Participate in CSCB Regional Meetings as a member in good standing.

- Up to date, comprehensive knowledge of Canada Customs Regulations, HS Tariffs and Rating and Releasing procedures.
- Licensed Customs Broker with 5-7 years of management experience in a customs brokerage firm in Canada.
- Good knowledge of operating policies, procedures, processes and computerized systems
- Knowledgeable in a broad range of commodity imports.
- Strong communication and business development skills.
- Good general experience in and understanding of the international transportation industry.
- Experienced in all modes of freight - Air/Ocean/Truck/Rail/Courier - HVS and LVS shipments.
- OGD requirements experience as well as a thorough knowledge of NAFTA certificates.
- Strong dedication to providing professional customer service and high standards of excellence.
- Always willing to go the extra mile for the customer and the company.
- Teamplayer attitudes, approachable and collaborative by nature.
