Our client, , a well established Logistics firm is looking for a freight forwarding expert who will manage and grow their
Freight Forwarding division. This person will be an efficient operator, an effective negotiator, an articulate sales person and a strong leader.
Only the most competent of candidates will be entertained as this role has a high degree of autonomy, requiring this person to be a self starter and well organized.
Job Requirements:
Direct and manage staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop personnel, control and improve service quality
Develop Freight Forwarding business
Responsible for all import and export activities in the Freight Department
Prepare monthly productivity and performance reports and analysis
Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to secure new business and devise strategic approaches to the market
Safety (WCB, OSHA, WHMIS), compliance (Dangerous Goods; special handling)
Responsible for department budget and reporting P&L results monthly
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related degree
10+ years experience in International Freight Forwarding Industry, including managerial experience
Expertise in both Operations and Sales
Previous experience and operational knowledge for both domestic and international freight import and export shipments.
Air and Ocean expertise is required to supplement your knowledge of trucking
Proven track record in successful negotiations with airlines, ocean carriers, rail and truck carriers is a must
CIFFA certification and/or P.Log
Highly proficient in Microsoft office applications and the ability to quickly learn new applications
