Our client is a well-established international freight forwarder seeking a qualified international air/ocean
imports/exports Operations Manager for the Mississauga office. You have several years of management
experience in international freight forwarding in Canada. Comfortable in both air and ocean freight, you
a well-rounded background in the industry, have supervised a medium-sized staff and have excellent
relations established with customers, carriers and international agents.


 

• Assist in the day to day running of the import/export department (air, sea and road)
• Maintain relationships with overseas agents, airlines and customers
• Management and training of staff towards maximum performance and job satisfaction
• Has the mandate to sell when in customer contact situations
• Assist in the overall development of the team
• Responsible for team quality and productivity
• Ensure all company policy, routines and standards are followed by all department members
• Co-ordinate activities between freight forwarders (operators), customers and suppliers
• Run projects, complete with well defined goals, deadlines and budget
• Rate negotiations with airlines/suppliers
• Provide customer quotations
• Produce/pass invoices
• Maintain the quality standards of the operational import/export procedures
• Support with customs issues towards customs compliance
• Ensure quality levels are maintained in the export respective import process
• Provide customer service to the clients to maintain customer base


 

At least 5 years experience in an export or import operator role (freight forwarder).
Extended knowledge of customs. Knowledge of air or sea freight industry and processes.

Comfortable with project management practises
Familiar with and well able to work within the import/export process
Familiar with and able to work with the company’s quality and environmental policies
Good knowledge of computer tools, both import/exports and invoicing
Knowledge of customs tariff
Good communication skills
Financial awareness
Able to manage own working time effectively
Knowledge of service levels expected by clients – able to deliver them!
Excellent English - other languages an asset
